Before the Tower

Every civilisation has a beginning.
But its beginning is rarely the moment the world first sees it.

When readers first enter Elyria through The Book of the Flame — Elyria: The Eternal Tower, they encounter a world already taking shape.

They see the Eternal Tower.

They see the Flame.

They discover the ideas, symbols and vision behind a new civilisation.

But every civilisation has a story before its foundations become visible.

Before the Tower was built, someone had to imagine it.

Before Elyria could become a home for generations, someone had to reach the point where such a future could be conceived.

That is where Founder — The Prophecy begins.

When I finished The Book of the Flame, I realised that although the doorway into Elyria had opened, the human journey behind its beginning still had another story to tell.

Not a continuation.

A beginning.

Founder — The Prophecy goes back to the life before the Tower — before fifty years of construction, before the First Village and before the generations who would eventually call Elyria home.

It begins with one person.

An ordinary life shaped by childhood, experience, work, relationships, mistakes, ambition and the slow accumulation of lessons.

Then comes the Prophecy.

But the Prophecy does not build Elyria.

A person must decide what to do with it.

That became the question at the heart of the book.

How does an ordinary person become capable of beginning something that may take generations to understand?

Not through a title.

Not through wealth.

Not through one extraordinary moment.

Through years of experience that gradually change the way a person sees the world.

Through learning.

Through failure.

Through responsibility.

Through beginning again.

The Prophecy marks a turning point, but what follows matters just as much.

Every decision.

Every lesson.

Every relationship.

Every step that brings the future Founder closer to the moment when an idea must become action.

Because no civilisation is built in a single day.

It begins one choice at a time.

Looking back, I realise that the road toward Founder began long before I wrote its first sentence.

It began in childhood.

It continued at sea.

It crossed countries, professions and years of experience.

Each part of life added something I could not fully recognise at the time.

Only later did those separate experiences begin to connect.

Perhaps that is true beyond books as well.

We rarely recognise the foundations while we are laying them.

Only with time do we discover that ordinary moments prepared us for decisions we could not yet imagine.

The Eternal Tower will eventually take fifty years to build.

But even those fifty years are not the true beginning.

Before construction comes the decision to build.

Before the decision comes the vision.

And before the vision can become reality, someone must be prepared to carry it.

That is why Founder — The Prophecy exists.

Not simply to explain Elyria.

It tells the story of the person who must become ready to begin it.

Before the Tower, there was a life.

Then came the Prophecy.

Then came a choice.

And from that choice, Elyria could begin.
